"Handle them carefully, for words have more power than atom bombs."
-Pearl Strachan Hurd
I admit I am a quote-collector. No, I'm a quote-hoarder! Yes! That's the word! I look for quotes in books, poems, posts... I look for quotes in any written material I encounter! Below is a list of the ones I find are the most interesting..

“The weariest nights, the longest days, sooner or later must perforce come to an end.”
Emmuska Orczy
“People do not change, they are merely revealed.”
Anne Enright
“You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
“There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action.”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
“In life, unlike chess, the game continues after checkmate.”
Isaac Asimov
Those who do not complain are never pitied.”
Jane Austen
“A person is, among all else, a material thing, easily torn and not easily mended.”
Ian McEwan
“The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.”
Isaac Asimov
“The wound is the place where the Light enters you.”
Jalaluddin Rumi
“Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.”
A.A. Milne
“The things that make me different are the things that make me.”
A.A. Milne
“It's snowing still," said Eeyore gloomily.
"So it is."
"And freezing."
"Is it?"
"Yes," said Eeyore. "However," he said, brightening up a little, "we haven't had an earthquake lately.”
A.A. Milne
“What I say is that, if a man really likes potatoes, he must be a pretty decent sort of fellow.” (TRUE!!)
A.A. Milne
Too much A.A. Milne??? There's NOTHING like too much A.A. Milne!!!

I will make sure I add some of these quotes to my "Favorites". It's true that words have more power than a nuclear bomb. Once they are released, they can't be undone. What else, other than words, keeps us alive in this dreadful place.
ReplyDeleteI heard a line in a movie, which says, “Waiting for you is like waiting for rain in this drought. Useless and disappointing."
And I say words, books, quotes, and everything written is what makes it rain in the drought.
Don't be shocked, it's almost midnight, and you know what that means, (DEEP). :P
Hahahahaha ya deep inty! :p
DeleteI believe so too! Words are what keep us alive, or in worse cases, kill us..
Would love to take a look at your collection!
